About PucaCon
An independent, hands-on cybersecurity conference launching in Dublin for Halloween 2027.
We bring together professionals, researchers, and practitioners to explore complex technical challenges, share practical knowledge, and challenge assumptions. Whether you are an experienced specialist or taking your first steps in the field, PucaCon delivers the hands-on learning and open community connection needed to look beyond the obvious.
The Founders
PucaCon is founded by experienced conference organisers who were core members of the team behind CHCON, one of New Zealand's established independent security conferences, which attracts more than 300 attendees annually.
Sp4c3b4r — Co-founder: Brings a decade of experience in information security conference operations, governance and technical programming. He received the Tenebreux Community Award in recognition of his contributions to grassroots security communities.
B4cksp4c3 — Co-founder: Leads PucaCon's creative direction and visual identity. Her work at CHCON includes graphic design, creative direction and video production, alongside graphics and video editing for PyConNZ.
The Púca
In Irish folklore, the Púca is a shapeshifting trickster that refuses to be easily understood. In cybersecurity, appearances can mislead, assumptions can fail, and curiosity can reveal what others overlook. PucaCon embraces that spirit: looking beyond the obvious.
